Assessment & Advice

At your first appointment I will find out what has happened to you and what difficulties you are experiencing.  I will review movement and establish your physical problems.  Upon discussing what input is recommended we can then agree a plan to fulfill your goals.

Splinting

Splints and mobility aids may be required to support your rehabilitation.  I can advice on what splints or equipment would help you and review your needs as they change.

I make customised soft and scotch splints to support joints that are losing range or require support temporarily.  I can advice on other purchasable splints and order these for you.

Treatment
Sessions

Treatment sessions will take place in your own home and will vary according to your needs.

Use of hands on therapy, exercises and equipment may be required.

SaeboFlex

The saeboflex is a dynamic splint for the hand worn to carry out a series of intensive exercises in order to re train the hand and arm after neurological damage.  I am able to assess your suitability and arrange a 2 week free trial before you decide whether to purchase.  If you purchase a saeboflex treatment sessions can include guiding you with your exercise programme and progressions.

Functional Electrical Stimulation

Used to stimulate muscles to initiate movement.  Initially I would use the equipment with you but once confident you can rent or purchase this equipment.
FES is also used for foot drop, it helps lift the foot when walking and is an alternative to an ankle foot orthosis.

Training for Carers

You may have a carer, friend or family member who helps you regularly.  I am happy to advise on how others can assist with home programmes eg. Stretches, exercises, positioning, to optimise your rehab.

I provide physiotherapy to anyone presenting with a physical problem as a result of a neurological condition. Whether you are requiring a course of treatment or simply an assessment and advice, I am happy to help.
